On 9 March 2023 the Amsterdam Business School (ABS) hosted the 9th Annual Business & Society Research Seminar, co-organised by scholars from ABS, Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) and Vrije Universiteit (VU) and with support from A Sustainable Future (ASF).

Aim of the event

The aim of the recurring event is to bring together the Dutch-based community of researchers interested in the role of business in society, sustainability, corporate responsibility, social entrepreneurship and business ethics. The event particularly targets PhDs and other early career scholars and aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas, feedback and networking opportunities. 45 scholars from or affiliated with Amsterdam Business School, Rotterdam School of Management, and VU University participated in this year’s event.

Programme

After a plenary welcome session participants presented academic papers and research ideas across several parallel sessions. The research incubator sessions provided presenters with the possibility to discuss cutting-edge research ideas with like-minded scholars, and to explore potential collaborations. During the plenary closing session, Prof. Ans Kolk, who has recently been ranked as the top 5 researcher in the Netherlands in the field of business and management by Research.com, shared her journey as a researcher in an informal Q&A session. The day concluded with a reception and a cosy vegetarian dinner.

ASF Funding

The event was made possible thanks to financial support from A Sustainable Future (ASF). The seminar was organized by a team of ABS scholars from the Strategy & International Business, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation sections: Ana M. Aranda, Kevin Curran, Laura Dupin, Guus Hendriks, Arno Kourula, Isabella Pozzo, and Marlene Vock.

The 10th edition of the seminar will be held in Rotterdam in 2024!
